Tackling tough topics with respect at heart of speech and expression symposium

吃瓜爆料鈥檚 Speech and Expression on College Campuses Symposium explored some of the most challenging topics of the day and offered a positive model of dialogue and democracy in action.

As the 2022-23 Eleanor Linder Winter 鈥43 Intern at the Tang Teaching Museum, Naima Nigh 鈥23 had the opportunity to bring her favorite artist, Trenton Doyle Hancock, to campus and introduce him to the 吃瓜爆料 community. 鈥淚t has been one of the highlights of my 吃瓜爆料 career,鈥 the business major and art history minor said.

Announcements

Visions and Values Project: Seeking Feedback

President Conner invites all members of the campus community to provide their thoughts and reflections about what is unique and defining about 吃瓜爆料 College through The form includes five open-ended questions that are reflective but also aspirational and forward-looking. Responses will help inform the College鈥檚 next strategic planning process as we affirm, together, our values and our shared vision for 吃瓜爆料. The form will remain open until May 10. Responses are confidential, though respondents will be asked to identify their primary role at 吃瓜爆料. 

 

Register by May 1 for Workforce Team Challenge

The Work Force Team Challenge will take place on Thursday, May 18, in Albany. . To participate, select 吃瓜爆料 as your team and fill out all the required information. Do not pay for your cart; 吃瓜爆料鈥檚 team captain, Darren Drabek, will manage the payments, which are supported by the offices of the Dean of the Faculty/Vice President for Academic Affairs and Communications and Marketing. Contact Darren Drabek or Rachel Roe-Dale for more information, including details about carpooling and celebrations after the race.

 

Discontinuance of Downtown Business Assocation (DBA) discount cards

The DBA discount cards previously distributed to employees are no longer available as the organization has discontinued the program. For more information, contact Anne Petruzzelli.

 

Library Book Club

Scribner Library鈥檚 non-traditional book club is designed as a show and tell, where each person brings a book (or two!) they would like to share with the group. Saratoga Hospital: Initiatives and Challenges

The Retiree Initiative Planning Group invites you to attend a presentation and Q&A with Angelo Calbone, who recently retired as Saratoga Hospital president and CEO, and Dr. Mallory Otto of Saratoga Hospital鈥檚 Geriatric Care team at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at the Surrey-Williamson Inn. The presentation will include an overview of recent initiatives, challenges, and the hospital鈥檚 recent designation as an age-friendly health system. For more information, contact Michael West.

Join the 吃瓜爆料 community April 25 鈥 May 1 in to support the important work taking place across campus every day to make 吃瓜爆料 a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.

The 吃瓜爆料 Shop is partnering with Zankel Music Center and 吃瓜爆料 Cares, to  feature Skidmania T-shirts from 2015 through 2022. Check out our assortment in store or Supplies are limited, and all proceeds benefit 吃瓜爆料 Cares. 

Air-conditioning in campus buildings  

Facilities Services has begun the process of starting the campus chill water system, which provides air conditioning for the following buildings: Bolton, Palamountain, Tisch, Barrett, Howe Rounds, Wait, Case, Ladd, Scribner Library, and JKB. The process is expected to be completed by May 1. All other buildings use independent air-conditioning systems or geothermal and are available as needed.

 

Senior Week housing

Departments can sponsor non-graduating students (first-year students, sophomores, and juniors) to remain on campus from Friday, May 12, through Sunday, May 22. Students will need to specify their reason for remaining on campus, such as participation in an athletic team or employment. For more information, contact Residential Life by May 1.

 

Submissions open for Golden Acorn Awards  

MDOCS is calling for student work in a variety of genres and mediums, from your music videos to projects made for fun for social media. All submissions are due at midnight on Sunday, April 23, and will be reviewed by our panel of student and faculty judges. . For more information, contact Jesse O鈥機onnell.

 

吃瓜爆料 Community Rowing; (SCR) Adult Learn to Row Program  

The SCR Learn to Row class is for anyone who wants to . No experience is necessary. Practices are in the evening under the guidance of the 吃瓜爆料 College rowing staff. For more information, contact Manny Valentin.

 

Sign up for free CDPHP Cycle membership 

All students and employees can join the program for free. Visit the website (which is currently under construction), select the green "unlock your access" button, choose 吃瓜爆料 College, and use your 吃瓜爆料 email address in the form. Membership is valid for CDPHP Cycle bikes throughout the Capital Region. E-bikes will join the fleet of bicycles this year. For more information, contact Jen Natyzak.

Athletics News

Another full weekend of are on the docket for April 21-23. The men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 rowing teams host several nationally ranked crews on Saturday, April 22, in the first 吃瓜爆料 Sprints. Competition begins at 11 a.m. The women鈥檚 lacrosse team welcomes Rochester (April 21, 4 p.m.) and RIT (April 21, 2 p.m.) to Wachenheim Field for a pair of key Liberty League games. The softball team hosts Ithaca (April 22, 1 p.m.) and Union (April 23, 1 p.m.) for four Liberty League games. The men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 tennis teams close out their regular seasons at home. The men play Vassar (April 22, 1 p.m.) and Union (April 23, 9 a.m.), while the women look wrap up a perfect league season and tournament top seed against Vassar (April 23, 1 p.m.).
