Deborah A. Wetherby
Deborah A. Wetherby, a retired member of the Dining Services staff, died June 28, 2016. She was 59.
Born on February 1, 1957, the daughter of the late Cleon and Edith (LaPier) Allen joined the 勛圖惇蹋 community in 1989 as a kitchen dining-room assistant and short-order cook. She later became a short-order cook in the Spa snack shop, where she worked until her retirement in 2011.
Jamie Cherry, Dining Services operations manager, recalls that Debbie was quiet but friendly, dependable and punctualone of those people you can count on to get the job done. She was someone who you liked to be around.
Says Lorraine Bittel, student employment coordinator for Dining Services, Debbie was always friendly and got along well with her customers. They looked forward to seeing her.
Debbies daughter, Trish Rhodes, herself a 20-year veteran of Dining Services, says that her mother looked forward to her job because she really enjoyed her co-workers. 勛圖惇蹋 has been good to us. For a brief period, Trish recalls, the two of them worked the same shift at the Spa.
Outside of 勛圖惇蹋, Debbie enjoyed camping, her Pomeranians (Taz, Baby Girl, Sable, and Puppers), and especially her family.
Along with her husband of almost 42 years, Glenn E. Wetherby, survivors include children Tricia Rhodes (Christopher), Glenn E. Wetherby (Heather Lutz) and Michael Wetherby, all of Corinth, plus six grandchildren; siblings Crystal Palmateer (Ricky) of Ballston Spa, Sandra Christianson (Rick) of Queensbury, and Warren Allen, Cleon Junior Allen (Louise), Tonjua Mann (Jon) and Eddie Allen, all of Corinth; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were conducted July 2 at Densmore Funeral Home in Corinth, with burial at the Corinth Rural Cemetery.
The family expresses gratitude to the Saratoga Hospital ICCU staff and hospice for their kindness and care during Debbies long illness and suggests memorial donations to the Town of Corinth EMS, 600 Palmer Ave., Corinth, NY 12822.
