His influences are wide-ranging, ranging from ancient Greek sculpture to Abstract Expressionism and 20th Century architecture.

Brodie's work is held in numerous private and public collections, including the Albany Institute of History and Art, the Everson Museum of Art, the Long Beach Museum of Art, and the National School of Ceramics in Madrid, Spain. He has lectured and given demonstrations extensively throughout his career at renowned institutions such as The Smithsonian, Harvard University, and many international venues.
