Media Meet Up with MDOCS
Media-making with MDOCS
Spend time getting to know the ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ campus and the wider Saratoga Springs community through the lens of a camera. The weekend will kick-off with an instructional workshop on our DSLR Cameras and will culminate in the creation of a final self-determined media project about your first weekend at ³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ.
Each day will include an activity familiarizing you with the surrounding area (mostly outdoor activities), and end with a screening at night, giving you some inspiration for your own mini-documentary project and showing you how this medium can be so powerful! We’ll listen together to our favorite podcasts, swap film recommendations, document our outdoor explorations, and meet some of the students that staff the MDOCS DOCLab (a campus hub for audiovisual production).
Together, we will get to know each other by sharing our own individual perspectives through creating a storytelling project of our own. Participants do not need any prior media-making experience, but this program will appeal most to students that have an interest and appreciation for documentary media and/or film, as well as an openness to new experiences and a willingness to have fun!
NOTE: This program is hosted by the John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative (MDOCS).
